Personal Biography:
At the age of 14, Theresa Wideman began her martial arts training after watching a friend take several karate classes in Westgate Mall. Within a few months she knew that she wanted to make the commitment to earning her Black Belt and she joined the Black Belt Team in order to reach her goal. As a red belt, she was hired to manage the newly built pro shop and then advanced to Student Services Director where she helped people understand the benefits of martial arts training.
Throughout the course of her training, Mrs. Wideman has been involved in competition and seminars to enhance her martial arts. In August of 1995, her long-term goal was met as she earned her 1st Degree Black Belt. Mrs. Wideman continues to pursue her martial arts education through a variety of seminars, and education with top martial artists in the nation.
As she built a career in the martial arts industry, Mrs. Wideman took an interest in the development of pre-school age children and implemented the “Little Ninjas” program that is specifically designed to help 3-5 year olds develop the physical and mental skills for entering the kids’ martial arts programs at Black Belt America. In addition to teaching the Little Ninjas, Mrs. Wideman is responsible for oversight of the program including training instructors to work successfully with this young population.
Since making the decision to dedicate her life to the martial arts, Mrs. Wideman has had twin girls of her own, which has given her an even greater insight into the needs of today’s youth and families. Mrs. Wideman has been instrumental in the development of Black Belt America’s system for training instructors, staff, and Black Belt leaders. She now oversees seven locations with her husband, Mr. Wideman.
